Annoyed about organizing files on your PC?
Well here is the answer, create a new partition from the existing free space.
First, you need to make sure that you have enough Free Space on your existing partition to create a new partition from it.
I recommend keeping atleast 100 GB for the system partition to install other 3rd party applications along with Windows.
Then you have to decide how much space you need in the new partition.
Now you can start by searching for “Computer Management” from the start menu
Or by Right Click on “This PC” and select “Manage”
Then the computer Management Windows will appear, on that from the left list select “Disk Management”
From here select the partition you need to shrink and create a new partition, in my case its System Drive “D”
Right-click on it and select “Shrink”
Then windows will calculate the free space of the existing partition and lets you to decide how much space you need for the new partition as below,
In my case, I have 68948 MB available free to shrink so For example I will create a 10GB partition from the existing partition,
Quick Chart
1GB | 1024MB |
10GB | 10240MB |
100GB | 102400MB |
Type the amount in MB and Click “Shrink” and wait few minutes, Windows will create a new partition. After few minutes you will see a new Unallocated partition will be available
Right Click on it and select “New Simple Volume”
Then a wizard window will appear “New Simple Volume Wizard” Click Next.
Then again Click Next
Next step you can select and assign Drive Letter or keep it defaults and Click Next
In this step, you can name the Drive and select the File System (FAT32 and NTFS), and Click Next
And then Click on Finish to Format and assign the Drive Letter to the new partition.
That’s it your done creating a New Partition
Now you can organize your files on your newly created partition
