10 Things to do on your New Laptop

Register the Product
Registering your new Laptop/Desktop on the manufacturer's website will be a good idea if you are a traveler. If you have any trouble with your device and get an online support assistant through the manufacturer. Also to track your warranty period you need to register your device under your email.
Update Operating System (Windows/Linux/macOS) and Drivers
System updates are the First thing to do after registration whether the Laptop/Desktop is bought from the manufacturer or a reseller. This will update and install the latest features and security patches for the Operating system.

Go to Settings > Update & Security and click Windows Updates.

Click on the Apple menu in the upper-left corner and choose System Preferences > Software Update.
Update and review Antivirus Software
Windows 8/8.1/10 all will come with their Virus and Threat Protection built-in called "Windows Defender" which is good for home use for most users who cannot afford Antivirus Software, but if you want you can purchase some Strong Antivirus Guards online. So it is better to Update the Virus Guard to protect your data.
MacOS Doesn't come with built-in Virus Protection but you can purchase it online.

Bloatware means the unnecessary software/application which is pre-installed with the operating system. Removing these applications may increase performance and free up some storage space.

Windows is located at Settings --> Update & Security--> Find My Device.
macOS is located at System Preferences --> Apple ID --> and select iCloud and enable Find My Mac

Using Balanced or Power Save profiles will help to reduce battery drain mostly on Windows 10 the profiles that are generated automatically are the best but if you want you can adjust the profiles manually.
